Admittedly, I was unsure how I was going to feel about It but my hair feels clean and I don’t even need conditioner. Smell smells great and I’m looking forward to continued use.,

For context, I have fine hair that is not permed or colored. I have not used commercial shampoo for ten years or so, instead using a homemade routine of mostly apple cider vinegar rinse, with occasional baking soda wash. My routine has been fine for my hair, although not so great for a fresh clean smell. I’ve considered commercial shampoos but wanted something environmentally responsible and natural, without a lot of ingredients. Swell Stem is the first thing I’ve seen that sounded good enough to try.

So far, I love it and am optimistic that I’ll continue to do so. On the first wash I lathered up too much- it’s certainly great if you want a lot of suds. I’ve used it twice since, trying to find the right balance of suds for my hair. Figuring out how to deliver just the right amount of soap may take a few washes, but I’m optimistic that I’ll figure it out.

Here’s what I love so far: the smell, light but lovely (I’m very sensitive to perfumes and took a gamble not getting one fragrance free); how soft and shiny it makes my hair without seeming to strip it dry; and that I can control the amount of lather. I’m pretty impressed, and I actually look forward to washing my hair.

Fell apart did nothing for hair

I have had my stem for about 2 weeks now and put it through several washes.
To give my review context, I am a woman with *very* fine, dyed hair that is somewhat thin. My scalp has always been prone to being greasy and many products weigh my hair/scalp down.

This product has not weighed my hair down or made my scalp look greasy, does not appear to affect the color of my hair, and seems to have just enough moisture to keep my hair from being overly dry or frizzy. Though I didn't really need to, I tried out the "sharpener" to see if it works and it actually does really well. Lol. (I was skeptical) I am overall very pleased and will probably continue buying.

A few comments though: if you have fine hair you may need to "lather" in your hand as I have found doing so on my hair directly can cause breakage. The product doesn't seem to lather much at all though my hair appears to get clean. Lastly, the feel of my hair when wet is vastly different from traditional products. It's almost like sticky? Instead of slippy. This is only an issue in that I must be more careful with my hair when wet to avoid breakage. My hair feels great once dry though. It's odd. I have started adding a conditioning element to my ends to help it be "slippier" and avoid that. It may or may not be necessary for others with longer/dyed/more delicate ends to do so as well. I am unsure how the team would fix this issue without making the product weigh down the hair more (as other eco products tend to do) so not really a major deduction.

Love the smell and whatnot has done for my hair

I purchased the lavender, sandalwood, and coconut scents. I have yet to use the coconut, but am enjoying sandalwood and my kids love the lavender. My daughter and I both have longer hair and this works wonderfully with minimal tangles after washing. My hair feels better and it isn’t as greasy the next day as it used to be. I’m happy about the ingredients and would recommend this to others! We have been cleaning up all products we use on and around us. I make as many as I can myself, but this is a wonderful option that has now cleared shower clutter and contributed to healthier wellbeing for the whole family!

Love this product!!! Lathers well! Makes my hair shine! Makes my hair manageable! Saves time because I am not having to do Shampoo and Conditioner. Coms easily! My hair feels soft and nourished! Definitely will buy this product again!!!

I’ve tried quite a few shampoo bars and this is by far my favorite. It leaves my hair feeling really clean and I am finding I can go several days between washes without my hair getting greasy. I do still have to use a conditioner, but I have curly hair in a dry climate and it just needs it. I wish there was a Stem conditioner!
